The 3rd Large Literary Online Project Sums Up Results

The 3rd Large Literary Online Project held on July 23-25, 2021, came to an end. This serious cultural event combined four literary festivals: XXXVIII International Literary Festival of Fiction “Aelita”, III International Literary Festival named after Aleksandr Pushkin, I International Festival “Golden Pen of Moscow”, and I International Festival of Russian-language Poetry “Poet of the Year”.

Festival participants and guests were welcomed by Chairman of the Board of the ISP Aleksandr Gritsenko, Deputy of the State Duma of the VII convocation, Chairman of the Public Council of the ISP Ravil Khusnulin, First Deputy Chairman of the ISP, writer Galina Berezina, Honorary Member of the ISP, writer, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the “Aelita” Award Boris Dolingo.

 Works of festival participants were reviewed at prose and poetry workshops conducted by science fiction writer, editor of one of the most famous literary magazines “Uralsky Sledopyt” (ENG: Ural Pathfinder) Boris Dolingo, cult songwriter, winner of many song awards Victor Pelenyagre, and member of the ISP, playwright, poet, literary and theater critic Kseniia Alpinskaya. Authors of works and the audience received recommendations on working on the language and style of works, plot composition, and text design.

The Organizing Committee includes: International Board of the International Union of Writers, Moscow Branch of the International Union of Writers, St. Petersburg Branch of the International Union of Writers, Sevastopol Branch of the International Union of Writers, Yekaterinburg Branch of the International Union of Writers, Crimean Branch of the International Union of Writers, Association of Teachers of Native and State Languages “SLOVO”, Regional Public Organization “Union of Figures of Fantastic Literature and Cinema”, Yekaterinburg Branch of the Union of Writers of Russia, “Rossiysky Kolokol” (ENG: Russian Bell) literary magazine of the Moscow City Organization of the Union of Writers of Russia, editor-in-chief Maxim Zamshev, “Traditsyy & Avangard” (ENG: Traditions & Avant-Garde) literary magazine, editor-in-chief Roman Senchin, “Uralsky Sledopyt” (ENG: Ural Pathfinder) magazine, Yaroslavl State University named after P.G. Demidov.

Modern masters of the word shared their experience and professional secrets with participants in a number of interesting lectures.

Classic of modern Russian fiction Boris Dolingo told the participants how to make the plot interesting for the reader, how to correctly build the composition of the work, and what plot mistakes should be avoided in his lecture “Validity of Plot Logic”.

“Fundamentals of Drama” – a lecture for novice playwrights by writer, playwright, organizer of the international drama competition “LitoDrama”, seminar of playwrights at the “School of Modern Play” theater, member of the Moscow Union of Writers Natalia Yakushina. The audience learned about the structure and composition of dramatic work and how it differs from prose, as well as what techniques to use for creating the images of characters in drama.

Writer, playwright, Russian actress, member of the Union of Cinematographers of the Russian Federation, winner of the national award “For the Benefit of the World – 2019” Elena Kollegova revealed the secrets of creating an interesting image of the comedy character.

Many writers would like to learn how to make a screenplay out of a story or a novel, what are the main difficulties, and how to overcome them. “Can a good novelist write a modern script for a TV series? Illusions and reality?” – a lecture devoted to this topic by Russian science fiction writer, screenwriter of TV series “The Great”, “Earthquake”, “Robo”, “Goodbye, America!”, winner of literary awards Aleksey Gravitsky.

 Theater criticism is one of the most promising and popular trends in modern literature. Festival participants heard about this in the lecture “Modern theater criticism. How to write reviews?” by Kseniia Alpinskaya, writer, poet, playwright, member of the expert council of the Sverdlovsk regional competition for the best theatrical work of the year and the festival “Bravo!”, winner of the poetry competition named after I. Annensky of XXXIV International Science Fiction Festival “Aelita”, winner of the poetry competition “Burning in the Poetry Fire”, regular theater and literary critic in the “Moskovsky Komsomolets” (ENG: Moscow Komsomolets) socio-political weekly newspaper.

The audience learned how to take the first steps in this profession and what professional skills are required. The most common mistakes of novice reviewers were analyzed using specific examples.

Writer and public figure Galina Berezina told in her lecture “Myths and truth about book sales in modern realities” how to promote oneself in literary creativity in our time, what one will have to face when dealing with publishing houses, how to choose the right form of copyright, and much more.

Winner of literary and film awards, director and author of two dozen documentaries and television films Vladimir Sutyrin shared in his lecture “Creative fate as a system of unpredictability” how sometimes the creative path can be unpredictable.

Public and statesman of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Chairman of the Public Chamber of the Donetsk People’s Republic Aleksandr Kofman told about the upcoming International Literary Festival “Stars over the Donbas” and what events are planned within the framework of this festival.

And at the end of the program, the audience was able to meet Alan Dean Foster, a classic of world fiction, screenwriter of films and TV series “Star Trek”, “Dark Star”, “Alien”, “The Chronicles of Riddick”, “The Thing”, etc., in the format of a video recording.

The festival ended with a joyful moment of announcing winners of four literary competitions!
